We have been tracking and following the progress of Local Plans in the different regions of England.

A Local Plan sets out planning policies and identifies how land is used – determining what will be built where. We’ve developed this Local Plan Schedule which we hope will keep you up to date on what Local Authorities are doing on their Plans and if you have any questions contact us today.

September/ October 2018Tower Hamlets

Following submission of the Local Plan on the 28th February 2018, hearing sessions are programmed to commence in September/October 2018.

August 3rd 2018Barnet

Barnet undertook a further Call for Sites exercise which ended on the 3rd August 2018.

August 2018Bexley

The Council have indicated that they will be undertaking Consultation on preferred approach to Local Plan policies in August 2018.

June 2018Croydon

Croydon have committed to undertaking a  partial review of the local plan adopted in 2018 to review those policies most affected by the adoption of the London Plan. Evidence gathering will commence in Autumn of 2018.

July 2018Richmond

Following an Examination in Public in late 2017, the Local Plan was adopted on 3rd July 2018.

20th February 2018Waverley

The Local Plan Part 1: Strategic Policies and Sites was adopted by the Council on 20th February 2018. The Local Plan Part 2 is currently at preferred options stage with consultation auntil 9th  July 2018.

22nd June 2018Guildford

Inspector Jonathan Bore (the Inspector for Mid Sussex’s Local Plan), wrote to the Council confirming that he could not support the stepped trajectory and that the Council should identify additional sources of housing delivery in the early years of the Plan.

August 6th 2018Eastleigh

Following withdrawal of the Eastleigh Local Plan during the examination process, the Council are undertaking Regulation 19 consultation on a new version of the plan until 6th August 2018.

July 2018Wycombe

The Wycombe District Local Plan was submitted on 28th March 2018 and hearings commenced on the 16th July 2018.

16th May 2018Bedford

On 16th May 2018 the Council’s Executive agreed that the ‘Plan for Submission’ version of the Local Plan 2035 should not be recommended to Full Council for submission to the Secretary of State for public examination, and that Officers should carry out additional work on the evidence base to support an amended Plan for Submission.

4th July 2018Central Bedfordshire

Planning Inspector; Mike Hayden BSc(Hons) DiPTP MRTPI wrote to the Council in June regarding the Habitats Regulation Assessment and screening of the proposals in the Plan. Central Beds are required to undertake further work on the Habitats Regulation Assessment before progressing. Read more here:

8th June 2018Joint North Essex Local Plan Part 1

The Inspector examining the Plan wrote to the North Essex Authorities (NEA) in June 2018 requesting that further work was required to update evidence to support the Joint Plan.

19th July 2018Thanet

On the 19 July, the Council approved the publication of its draft Local Plan.

Consultation on the draft Local Plan is expected to run from Thursday 23 August until Thursday 4 October 2018.

June 2018Castle Point

Consultation on a new Local Plan commenced on 4th July and ends on 15th August 2018.

2nd July 2018Amber Valley

Following submission of the Amber Valley Borough Local Plan on 2nd March 2018, hearing sessions took place between June and July 2018.

July 2018Cherwell District Council

Cherwell District Council submitted the Local Plan Partial Review (Oxford’s Unmet Housing Need) for formal examination on the 5th March 2018. Inspector Paul Griffiths wrote to the Council on the 11th May seeking review of the submitted Habitats Regulation Assessment. The Council confirmed that a revised HRA is expected to be completed by end of June/early July.
